RECOVERY OVERVIEW
The availability of a wide range of ion exchange and chelating resins of high capacity, good regeneration efficiency and durability have stimulated the chemical and mining sectors in developing more industrial applications using ion exchange technology.
Some successful commercial applications are the concentration and recovery of uranium and gold from ores in mining. More recently, the recovery of metal catalysts using ion exchange resin continues to be extensively studied and more patents were filed. Today, the trend is to recover valuable metals to non detectable levels and recycle metals such as lead, copper, nickel, silver and zinc to optimize the manufacturing cost and minimize the waste handling problem.
Rohm and Haas continues to assist the industry in this effort by developing more selective and efficient resins.
